The passing of our Mike

LAURENCE MICHAEL GRAY Beloved husband, father, brother, nephew, uncle and friend, passed away on Friday, January 29, 2010, at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver spring, MD, following a long hospital stay. "Mike," as he was affectionately known, was born, raised, and educated in Washington, DC. He became an accomplished roofer, working for over 30 years with Corley Roofing & Sheet Metal Company, Temple Hills, MD. He developed a long lasting family relationship with the Corley family especially Johnny and Rick.
Mike was a sports enthusiast. He played semi-pro football when he was a teen and young adult and enjoyed playing basketball well into his later years. He was a faithful member of the Trinidad Baptist Church and was passionate about his service in the following ministries: Trustee, Senior Choir, Male Chorus, Tape, Drama, Transportation, Decision Counselor, and Sunday Church School. Mike is the son of the late Barbara Jean (Cooke) Gray and Francis Lawrence Gray. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Shirley; daughter, Lauren; son, Sean; sisters, Maureen, Joan and Dianna; brothers, Ronald, Frank and Thomas; nieces, Aletcia and Caryn; nephews, Curtis and Christian; great niece, Amiyah; in addition aunts, uncles, many cousins and friends.
